Hi guru143,
Try the below mentioned steps and see if the issue is fixed:
1. Confirm that the computer is powering on only on AC adapter without the battery.
2. Remove AC adapter and battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to release any flea power. Plug in the battery and the AC adapter and check if you still get the same message.
3. Try swapping the battery with any know good battery (if available) if the known good battery doesn't give any errors, replace the faulty battery.
4. Try running this fix from Microsoft:
