Hi PamelaT7,
Try the below mentioned steps and see if this fixes the issue:
1. Right click the Network icon at the bottom right side of the screen.
2. Select "Troubleshoot problems".
3. If the issue still remains, Right click the Network icon at the bottom right side of the screen and select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
4. From the right pane click "Manage wireless networks" (see the image here: http://its.truman.edu/Image/wireless/manage-wireless-networks.jpg
5. Right click and delete all the available networks (see the image here: http://www.schat.net/OLD/Support/images/Vista/manage_wireless_connections.png
6. Try to connect to the desired network again and see if it connects.
If you have already tried the above steps or similar steps, to avoid repetition do reply with other troubleshooting steps you have performed.
