Hi Cathy2086,
As you mentioned ants entered the computer chassis, there is a possibility there might have been considerable damage to the internal components. Also, there is a possibility the connections were not seated correctly when you opened to clean the laptop, so it is not allowing you to power on the computer anymore. Please check the below mentioned link for "HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide":
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&contentType=SupportManual&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5048677
Please reseat the connectors properly following the steps in Maintenance and Service Guide. If the issue is still not fixed please contact a local technician or HP tech support for a thorough diagnosis.
Note: this requires you to reseat the components by removing the system cover/taking apart the chassis. Please perform these steps only if you are comfortable else seek a technician's help. Also, refer to the Service Manual for accurate steps and safety instructions.
Do reply with results.
Thanks & Regards
