Hi Temite,
It is not always necessary that the system will hang because of only memory issues; sometimes it can be other hardware or software issues as well. You mentioned that you changed Operating Systems which didn't make any difference, also you changed memory modules. Please check the below mentioned links, there are a series of hardware fixes listed here. Please try these and see if the problem fixes:
