Hi davey jay,
I can try to find a fix for your problem. I would like to know a few more details about this. What is the name of the software for car diagnostics? What are the Operating Systems Installed on your old computer and the new computer?
Please do write back to us.

Hi davey jay,
As you mentioned your old laptop had Windows 7 and now you have a Windows 8 laptop, the software might not be working because of compatibility issues. In Windows 8 you can try running the application "Autocom 2013" in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Please check the below mentioned article for steps on "Run a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 8":

Do reply with results.
