My dvd writer in dell 15r has a problem after inserting any disk to it shows blank disk or insert disk .

please help me sort this issue .
Try booting with a bootable disc such as an Operating System or Drivers disc. If the computer boots with the disc every time, the problem might be with the Operating System or Software. Is the optical drive firmware up-to-date? If not, please update the firmware using the link provided in my previous response.

1. Run Optical Drive Troubleshooter from Windows 7 Troubleshooter. Click here to access Windows 7 Troubleshooter for Optical Drive.
2. Run Dell 32-bit Diagnostics on Optical drive. If test fails, reply with the exact text of the error code. Else, follow next steps.
3. Download and Install the Latest Optical Drive Firmware and BIOS from support site. Restart the system. Click here to download the latest BIOS. You can access other drivers from here.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

i tried bootable disk in bootmenu it works ,and also I updated the firmware of drive. but when I insert any other disks it shows blank while selected dvds it reads fast. is there anything we need to do to its lens .
