Hello,
Start off with some basic troubleshooting things:
First update your browser to the latest version
Clear cache and cookies
Try disabling any browser extensions and starting the browser again
Try starting GMail without any labs you might have enabled (use https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue=https://mail.google.com/mail/?labs%3D0&scc=1<mpl=default<mplcache=2&emr=1&osid=1 to do that)
Temporarily disable your virus checker - particularly any of its add-ons/extensions that interfere with your access to the web or attempt to check your email.
