I have a basic sheet and cell a4 is a total of jobs done. I want to add +1 to cell a4 every time I enter any text in b6:b1000 to tally work completed.

What is the formula for this?

Hi Bsteen,

The formula COUNTA will count the cells with data in a specific range.

So your formula would look like:
=COUNTA(B6:B1000)
