Hello,

Try this 1.

Click on Start --> Run --> Type services.msc and click on OK.

Services windows will be opened. Now scroll down for "Windows Audio".

Make sure its status is "Started". If its not started then to change its status.

Double-click on "Windows Audio" --> Set "Startup type:" to "Automatic" and click

on "Start" --> Click on OK.

Good Luck

Hi ninjette.x0,

Try to perform System Restore in Windows XP. This will restore your computer to an earlier date when the sound was working fine. After performing System Restore check if the sound is working as earlier. Click the below mentioned hyperlink to find steps on how to perform System Restore in Windows XP:

How Do I Use the Windows System Restore Utility?

thanks for that, it ALMOST did work.. ive been working on trying to fix this over the past few months... this laptop hasent had audio for over a year now, and my system restore wont show up any dates from a year or two ago. i think now is the time for me to give up on this damn thing.. nothing seems to work on it!!
and all my sister did was " push a button " for my sound to go off!!
