Hi daisyshaju,
Some of the laptops have a key (usually it works with Fn key combination) to enable/disable the touchpad. If your laptop has any such key, please ensure that the touchpad did not get disabled using that key. Also there is a possibility the touchpad got disabled from software. In that case please check the software that controls the touchpad behavior.
If the tips I have provided do not help, please reply with the exact System Model Number of your laptop.
