Hi,

I am new to this forum and kind of a newbie and I hope somebody could help me...

My knowledge on computers is very limited as I have just gained an interest in them.

I am trying to build my own computer, but as there is so many components to choose from I'm getting little confused. I only want a standard computer that will be fairly quick when downloading and burning disks, as well as running a few programs (not necessarly at the same time).

I have been reading and looking at various sites that explain general stuff about PCs.
I feel like I am able to build my own computer so I have picked out all everything I need (I think) and I'm just looking for somone to take a quick look at the list below and tell me if they will all work together, and if I'm on the right track.

Here's the list:

CPU - AMD Am2 Athlon 64 x 2, 4400 + windsor core, dual core 2.4Ghz, 2 x 512KB cache
Motherboard - Asus M2N-VM NF430, sok AM2, PCI-E (x 16), DDR2 533/667/800, SATA II, SATA raid, uatx, on board VGA
Memory - 2Gb (2 x 1Gb) corsair twin X, Xms2, DDR2 PC2-6400(800), 240 pins, non - ecc unbuffered, Cas 5-5-5-12
Hard drive - 160Gb western digital WD160 AAJS caviar SE, SATA 300,7200rpm, 8mb cache, 9ms
DVD Writer - Samsung SH - S203N/RSMN, 20 x DVD +/- R, 12 x DVD +/- DL, DVD + RW x 8/ -RW x 6, SATA, lightscribe

Well that's what I've picked out, obviously it's not the most powerful thing, but I only need a fairly quick and cheap computer.

Thanks for all the advice that comes my way.
