My PC started shutting down on it's own about a month ago. It's a HARD (without a warning) shut down. Only the power lamp is still glowing when this happens. (image: http://s17.postimg.org/7k5ymia27/IMAG1487.jpg ) I've looked up this problem on the internet and the information I got said that I should check the temperature of my CPU etc. I installed PC Wizard and it said that my cores (4 of them) are running at these temps: (these values are different in the pictures, but are correct as you can see in the top right corner of every picture)
1 - 74°C
2 - 69°C
3 - 72°C
4 - 71°C
I was wondreing is this high?

Here are my specifications:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello Bulse,

71 C seems a little high to me. What is the room temperature ?

Is your fan running well and ventilation grill is unobstructed ?

How old is your LG ?

What is it that you were doing and are doing on the computer before it shuts down ?

Hi there.

Room temprerature is rather normal, 25 C I'd say. It is winter, so I don't think that's the problem.

I am cleaning my fans on a regular basis and nothing is obstructing their paths. My PC shuts down even when I use it with the case opened.

LG is about 3-4 years old

I am playing games/downloading files/installing files

You could be running short of RAM, how much do you have ?

I have 4GB RAM. Just finished COMPLETELY cleaning my PC. I've opened it, took out everything (MotherBoard, CPU, Fans, everything) and cleaned it. My temperature values are around 50 C now.... Should be ok now, I guess?

50 C is more reasonable.

4gb Ram is also quite sufficient.

I trust that you have not used a cloth nor a vacuum cleaner to clean, that would be awfully risky.

Let me know how it goes.

I've used a small brush to get the dust off from motherboaed, graphic card etc. I used cloth for fans, and vacuum cleaner for the case, and swiped the mb once with a brush extension for my vacuum cleaner. My PC is running fine as far as I know. It didn't shut down even once yesterday, so I guess no damage to the components was done. If it shuts down again, I'll post it. For now, I'll think of it as solved. Thanks for your help :)

Please next time you wish to clean so not use any cloth, brush or vacuum cleaner. Some circuits are very fragile while static electricity may cause permanent damage.

I recommend compressed air. It comes in a can and it's sold in computer shops or office equipment stores.
