System starts then shuts down

I just got done puting a computer back together, at startup everything looking good at the bios, then its shuts down, I replaced the ram and cleared the bios, well no change, it still shuts down. I'm thinking maybe the proscessor is bad, it is used, i would appreciate any assistance. this is one problem I have not ran into to much.

please check the hdd (hard disk) cable is properly connected or not.
check power supply is reguler or low voltage problem.
fix the ram in different (secondary) slot.
