Monitor soun inquirey

Hello, my philips desktop 32bit windows xp sp3 is only playing sound from speakers i plug-in to my tower
but when i plug my speakers out of the tower there is no sound or any other noise from my moniter.like when i log on and log off, ccan any body tell me what's wrong here please. yours whack thank you.

You must connect a wire from the monitor to the speaker port. The video cable does not carry the audio signal.
