Hp laptop power lights on,hard disk lights on screen black

my HP G60 laptop turns on,power lights on,hard disk light on but the display or screen black... no display but the dvd room spinning when i turn on but still no display..the battery is dead so i hooked directly to wall outlet..

When your computer starts, does the blank screen show also? It could be a video connection problem. Have you got an external monitor? I suggest to plug your laptop to the external monitor and see if it works, if it does it could be a problem with the screen

What was the last thing you remember doing with it would also help troubleshoot
