Hello everyone, recently my laptop (which is window vista) got a blackish screen after starting it up. Nothing pops up after starting it up. But if I wait long enough I can hear the noise when it reaches the login. However I still can't see anything on the screen.
Also before the black screen, my laptop screen was light green all of a sudden. But I restarted it and it went back to normal. But today it is a black screen and I do not know how to fix it.

This could be either a problem with:
1. screen backlight
2. inverter that supplies power to the backlight
3. data/power cable from motherboard to screen
4. power supply circuit on the motherboard
5. Video chip on the motherboard
None of these things can be fixed by the average home user. I suggest you find a qualified repair shop and have them give you an estimate.
My best guess, given the two problems, would be the video chip. The cheapest fix would be to buy a new laptop. Since most video chips are integrated into the MB.
Good luck
