Hello,
i have windowxp with no sound . but has a beep when i open the computrt........every time i open the computer it says new harware found for mutlimedia audio controller.and cannot find software. checked my sound device says its working ,drive is manfactured by standard system devices....what do i do please help...i have the installation cd which says that if i use the cd every file will be lost and u will have to reinstall media player etc....

The start-up beep is produced by a tiny motherboard speaker and not related to the "multimedia audio controller".

I assume the computer had sound sometime in the past. I suggest you download the free SlimDrivers software. The program will identify, download and install any and all drivers needed for your computer. Just Google the name for a download location.

hhi thank u xp c man , ur god sent ....i want to know if i can update other devices that are shown in slimdrives for my system devices ,adaptors, modem,storage device and controllers,please adivise. will these updates help me upgrade to higher windows thanks again

No. New XP drives will not help you update to a newer version of Windows. Windows 7 and 8 use completely different drivers.
