Hello,
i have windowxp with no sound . but has a beep when i open the computrt........every time i open the computer it says new harware found for mutlimedia audio controller.and cannot find software. checked my sound device says its working ,drive is manfactured by standard system devices....what do i do please help...i have the installation cd which says that if i use the cd every file will be lost and u will have to reinstall media player etc....

The start-up beep is produced by a tiny motherboard speaker and not related to the "multimedia audio controller".
I assume the computer had sound sometime in the past. I suggest you download the free SlimDrivers software. The program will identify, download and install any and all drivers needed for your computer. Just Google the name for a download location.
