hi,
i used this solution:

open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog box.
Type control in the Run dialog box, then press Enter.
In the Search box in Control Panel, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.
Under the Hardware and Sound item, click Configure a device. If you are prompted to enter an administrator password or provide confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

over here... i come to a message says apply a fix... a press next... i get the same error/..... so i chose the next option which is continue without the fix...

so i can see what drivers are missing but cant do anything after that... only ''close option is there

i have a Coprocessor driver missing..............a base system device that does not have a driver..

the other options on the website dont help

what shud i do.. please help

Run Windows updates and make sure your PC is fully up to date and has Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed.

There should be a little screw if you flip over the laptop which holds the cd drive in place.

if you can find it and unscrew it and pull out the DVD drive then insert it again, it may detect.

whats under optical drives in device manager?

your drive isnt being picked up by the motherboard.

you need to unplug it and plug it back in physically.

Wow, so you are taking apart laptops, and you cannot shell to bios?

Please understand, When trying to build or fix a machine, YOU CANNOT MAKE MULTIPLE CHANGES AT ONCE AND EXPECT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS NOT WORKING. IS THIS THE SAME LAPTOP THAT YOU ARE HAVING SOUND DRIVER PROBLEMS WITH?

@kieferschild - please pardon the interuption. I had no idea! I am going back to enlargement questions on the health board!

Well, when it boots up hit an F key. The first screen on boot up rtells you what key to hit, it depends on your make and model. On HP I think it is F10. after getting into that, look for a list of serial numbers in your bios for drives.

Is this the same laptop?

And thank you for recognizing!

Ladies, put your handbags down.

my dear friend ac3mark is only trying to help.

showtopper66 - To get into the BIOS its normally either F2 or DEL key when starting your laptop up.

If I may Keifer?

there should be alist like so? Your MB shhould see a generic dvd device, and the driver makes it run to its potential. SO look for any type of designation as in below:

Ok, it may be in another menu item. Along the top of the page, look for advanced, and you might find a boot order, that will list all of the available drive.

Try this first. Just reset your bios back to default and save it and reboot. Do that first. Do you have another known good drive?

I still think you should unplug it and put it back in. It's only held in with one screw.

You've unplugged, turned it on/off. Plugged it back in and turned it on and windows still doesn't see it?
