I had motherboard changed few days ago. The technicain who did it could nt finish because I had removed the hard drive to copy the informaiton somewhere else. He went on and installed the motherboard and sent the computer back to me.

I could not start (after i put the hard drive in place) because start up would fail repeatedly. Therefore I decided to reconfigure and put the disc that came with the computer which in my opinion reinstalled the OS but very strangely i see still my folders there. in a sens ethat is good. but I cant open most of them because the professional Oficce suite is gone.

The biggest problem that i could not solve at that late hour last night was the resolution and the shape of the icon and poctures. the resolution is not good. I am not sure that the new MOBO came witht eh right video card or i still need to do updates and downloads which by the way i cant because I can not access internet because it prompts me for e dial up set up.

anybody can tell me in how big trouble I am in this case. (by the way paid $300 so far] for the MOBO and installing it

thanks

You will need to update the hardware drivers. You can download them , on another computer, and copy them to a flash drive.

Good Luck

1. Find drivers on internet
2. download drivers to a file on the 2nd computer
3. copy the drivers to a flash drive
4. move flash drive to 1st computer
5. install drivers
6. jump up and down with happiness

Hi I really appreciate helping with that. I know how to copy the drivers. The problem was that I did not know which drivers I was missing and and how to locate them. For example and to begin with I did not have access to internet because a driver was missing I guess. How could I know whcih driver was that. Or the bigest problem was high resulution and I could not figure out why I could not achiieve. How to know which driver is missing and would fix the problem. thanks

The Dell support site is where you start. You input the model number and it lists the drivers than can be downloaded.
I assume it defaulted to the basic "vga" Windows drivers so you could not change the resolution to the "native" value for the Laptop screen.

Only owning a single computer can get anyone into a bind with this type of problem.
