Search and transfer data between workbooks

Looking at reviews, I know this request will have a simple answer. I am new to Excel, and I need help on this spreadsheet. I have workbook open. One of the worksheets contains a master list of specific parts in a number form with a description to the right. This entire row needs to be "cut and pasted" and entered into a specific worksheet in a specific order. There are about 1600 parts with descriptions that need to be transfered to approximately 6 seperate wooksheets. Is there a way to just start entering the part # in a worksheet and it is magically seached for in the master parts worksheet, but now populates to the workbook I am in? I know formula's or totals can be carried from previous or other workbook, just not sure about the number serach capability. Thanks so much

Hi Spreadsheetgal,

Try using the VLOOKUP function. Follow the Excel instructions on how to use VLOOKUP and let us know if you get stuck.
