Restoration of contacts

I have lost my all contact nos. & SMS from My nokia set x2-02 during S/w upgradation. So, can anybody pl. tell how to restore them ?

I am certain the first or second step of any upgrade, is backing up the data. So if you did not make a back up of the phone prior, I am certain by 99.999% that it is gone.
