Skype No Audio Input is Enabled

Hello,

For about half a year now my PC (HP Pavilion 500) has worked fine with no problems I couldn't solve but after intensive research I have yet to find a solution for this new problem.

Recently during Skype calls there would be no sound from anything apart from Skype itself and the internet, meaning I could listen to Youtube etc. I solved this earlier by reseting my sound settings via the 'DTS Audio Control Panel'. Now this problem has returned yet it did not solve after I reset the settings and even worse instead of it only happening during Skype calls it is now permanent. I have tried everything from re-plugging my head phones to editing the registry and to no avail.

Help would be appreciated.
