Help! my laptop wont power on!

Hi there. I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 that will not turn on. I closed the lid with programs still running yesterday without the charger in and then went out and came back today and it will now not switch on at all.I have tried taking the battery out and holding the power button and then putting the charger in, but still nothing works. When I put the power lead in the laptop, the light comes on in the hole when I insert the lead but the lightning bolt does not light up. Also there is a DVD in my disk drive that is still in there but I cannot get that out until my laptop switches on.
Pleasee help me!! I am a uk university student so I really need my laptop and I cannoy afford a technician to fix it or buy another one. Help!!

The DVD drive has a small hole in the drawer. You take a large paper clip, bend the pointed end out and use it to poke into the hole. You can then release the DVD tray.

You might try to charge the battery for a few hours and then try to start it again.

Thankyou! I have already been charging it for the last 2-3 hours but nothing.
