Compaq laptop is responding as if it is dead.

Hello, last night I properly shutdown my compaq laptop, but when I tried to on it its not responding. .. I removed the battery and and tried to on it without battery but the laptop is responding as if it is dead...
The only thing which is happening is... that the charger light glows as I plug in the charger..... nothing else..
Kindly help me out

Try this:

Remove the battery and cable

Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds

Replug and start
