Hi there
I have a 5 year old Toshiba Satellite A300-08D. It has just died (power is going to the laptop based on the fact that when it's plugged in the power cable light is illuminated, but when I press the power button nothing happens. I've tried taking the battery out, unplugging it and holding the on butting for up to 2 minutes then reinserting, but no luck. Any other suggestions on things to try are welcome!)
Anyway, a couple of months back I created a Windows 8 recovery USB. I want to know exactly what is on this? (It's an ISO image?) I have a new Toshiba Satellite now and was wondering if a) I could use the image to set up my new laptop, and b) if this were possible, what exactly would be restored? Settings? Programs? Documents and files?
Thanks for any help you can give. I'm a real rookie here.

It all depends on what software you used to create the "recovery". It might just be a disk containing Windows programs to fix the operating system.
