IPod touch the screen is all black

Hello,
Today I shut off my IPod touch because it was going really slow. When I turned it back on it took a long while then there was the white screen of death. Now the screen is all black. I have tried the hard reset thing and all I hear is the screen shot sound. Please help I have a lot of important things on it.

It's probably dead. Is there an Apple store you can take it to?
