I solved this by doing this:
open the following page and click on the "Switch" link: https://www.facebook.com/login/plugin_roadblock.php and you should get at least a partial facebook page I had my picture in the switch box at upper right and list of my friends who are on line on the left.
then open google search and search facebook login help page then you should see your facebook heading. on the far right click the down arrow and log out. then go to facebook login and log in again.
I'm back on in full - yeah!

Go to Tools and Internet Options. Click on Compatibility View and add Facebook.com. Also tick bottom box "Display all websites".

I do not see a down arrow to click on and log out... I searched "facebook login help page" in the browser and in a new one. Nothing.
