Hey csasharon. I'm sorry to hear you have issues with your drive. Can you hear the drive spinning at all when you connect to the computer or any other indication that it is working? If you can, do you hear any unusual noises/sounds coming from the drive? When you say that it can't be detected what do you mean exactly - it's not detected in Windows Explorer, Device Manager, Disk Management, BIOS? Firs I'd recommend that you try the drive with a different USB cable (not longer than 12") because your might have become faulty. You could also try opening disk management to see if it is detected there, here's how to do that: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ynvq85
You could also try some data recovery programs, to see if they can detect your drive and recover your data. Take a look at this thread: https://www.tomshardware.com/
Hope that helps.
