Hello, my hard drive recently became partially corrupted, so I'm trying to copy the data to another one to see what I can salvage, but when I try to access the hard drive it says "access denied" I tried changing the permissions but I really have no idea what to do here.

Thank you
Hello Sevikodkod,

I have a couple of questions. Are you able to access other drives and how have you connected the HD to your computer?
Here in the knowledge base of Microsoft, you could find some information regarding your issue:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/How-do-I-open-a-file-if-I-get-an-access-denied-message
Also, you could try to access your data via Linux Live CD.

Hope that I helped.

Happy New Year!

Thank you
I can access other drives fine. The permissions on one of them are being irritating, but this drive in particular will not even open at all, it won't even tell me the size or how much data is on it. I tried taking ownership already.
It's connected via sata2 cable to the motherboard.

I ended up using a program called TestDisk and got my files back :)
