I'm trying to set up a payroll system for 1 or 2 casual employees. Most forums recommend a manual system. Can excel add up a year to date column across different sheets? eg sheet 1 Gross $200; Year to Date $200 and then on the next sheet Gross $150; Year to date $350. I would like to have the maths done automatically to reduce the risk of errors. Even if I could get excel to transfer data across sheets I could then add a previous column and work with that. Please help.

Hello Kirmar,

Using simple formulae, Excel certainly can add up across sheets.

Have a look at the following link:-

I set up this draft household Yearly Income/Expenses Work Book for the Poster (as a guide for her). It shows you what simple formulae can do across a number of sheets. For the sake of the exercise, I just formatted three months and a Summary sheet for the Poster. Have a play with it and see what you think.

If its more or less what you are after, then I'm sure we can adjust it to suit your needs.

Kind regards,
vcoolio.
