Asus X550LA starts up but has black screen

Hi, after shutting down my laptop yesterday, I have not been able to boot it back up. The LED comes on and the fan but the screen is blank. The led flashes between the cylinder shape and internet symbol while making a clicking sound. The battery and charger are fine
I have tried every pattern of taking the battery out, unplugging the adaptor, holding down ESC and power button, and on and on. Nothing seems to be working.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The clicking sound might be a failed hard drive. The solution would then be to replace the broken hard drive and re-install Windows.
