Toshiba satellite won't go to password screen

Hello, my toshiba satellite is doing the same thing. i can turn it on, but nothing shows on screen, my password doesnt come up. the lights will come on tho. i have to take battery out then put it back in, then i turn it on and it works. i just recently installed a new version of norton protection and the guy online took over my computer and installed it while i watched my pointer going through the steps. he got it installed but i cant figure out now why my computer doesn't come on like it used to. i was reading the responses of the same issue, just haven't tried it yet. i hope there is a solution to this. i love my laptop. im not computer smart, but enjoy having it. thank you.
