Activating old account

Hi,

Basically a couple years back, I created a Facebook account. However due to privacy and safety reasons, I deactivated that account. About 2 years down the line I thought it would be useful to have a facebook account again as I was starting uni, so instead of reactivating my old facebook account, I made a new one but with the same email address as the old account, which I deactivated. Now I want to activate my old account as I have a few personal things on there which I want to retrieve. However, I cannot activate that account as it's email is the same as the new account and when I login, my new facebook account opens.

Is there any way I can access the old account?
