Windows 8.1 troubles

Hello,

I've recently downloaded 8.1 to my laptop and ever since I haven't been able to view any internet pages (Google chrome and Internet Explorer). Firstly it said I was connected but with limited access, so I looked on my firewall settings to see if it was blocking Google Chrome but it wasn't. When I restarted my laptop the internet would work fine for five or so minutes then crash again. I restarted it again and manually tried to connect, now it constantly says it's connecting but doesn't and when I try to disconnect it just ignores me! I've tried troubleshooting the problems but it gives me nothing. Any suggestions?
