Windows media player ,vlc media player do not play any sound

Hello, my laptop's sound is not working ! Windows media player ,vlc media player donot play any sound from speaker . However, from the browser the sound play (chrome,firefox) ..It is an absolutely weird issue i have experienced !!
I would really appreciate it if anyone has idea how to fix this problem !
