Perhaps this procedure will help:
1. remove the battery and unplug the charger
2. push in and hold the Start button for 60 seconds
3. insert the battery and plug in the charger
4. try to start the laptop again

Hi GBLK9,
Could you please clarify if the laptop shows black screen or it simply does not turn on? Is there a cursor on the black screen or the cursor only appeared when the Sony logo was visible? If the cursor is not visible, I recommend you to follow the xpcman's suggestions. If it is visible check if you can use the ctrl+alt+del combination and enter Task Manager. End the explorer.exe process. From file add new process, writing explorer.exe in the line. Check if there is some change.
If nothing helps and you still can not get image on screen, there may be some hardware issue. If you have some warranty left, I strongly recommend you to contact the reseller.
