Hello,

My laptop will only boot to a black screen with a white cursor. What I have done:
  • Removed battery and power cord>held down power button for 30 seconds>then connected both back
  • F8 into safe mode (won't boot into safe mode)
  • Held down "0", F12, changed bios to boot from CD/DVD Optical Drive
  • It starts to install windows 7 from recovery disk 1 then goes right back to the black screen with white cursor
  • The bios does detect the hard drive and memory

I have the correct factory recovery disk. Is a partition corrupt, hard drive bad, memory bad. What do you believe happened. Is there a program I can install to a usb thumb drive and put it on my laptop to fix this issue so I can restore it with the recovery disk? Heelllpppp.....

No such "magic" program exists.

I would replace the hard drive and try the recovery again.

Good Luck
