Antivirus Software Required

Hello,
My PC (HP Pvallion-Windows XP)was formatted recently.
Now my PC is not having any antivirus software.
Plz inform me which software I can download.
I tried to download "Defender", but while installing system is showing the error"Windows required Installer 3.1 or later,

Plz infom me how I can download any antivirus software and also give me the path to download.

You want avg free

and spybot search and destroy

google them they are both free and very good
