Have you tried formatting the drive again after recovering all the documents? Could you tell me model of your hard drive? Enter Disk Management and check if the drive is listed with its correct file system. I advise you to update your anti virus software and do a complete scan. Are we talking about an internal hard drive? Do you have the option to check it on another PC.
