Open - my Computer/C:/Program FilesEA Games/The Sims 2[or EP]/TS Data/Res/Config.open file graphics rules.sgr with notepad then find where it says setb useSoftwareRasterizer true and change all "true" with "false".Like this setb useSoftwareRasterizer false.
If u have vista and it says u cant modify and save that file you'll need to change the security settings on the file. Easy enough....any problems let me know...this may not work for everyone but? it DID for me :)

That happened to me except the walls and other items I had were blue. But the problem was, was that I had a teenmater installed. And if you have the same and installed a new sims then you have to get the lastest teenmater(Which would be the one for teen style stuff, since you downloaded it last) Sooo installed the teenmater for the latest expansion you downloaded and you should be fine :)
