Microsoft will allow you to download a FREE update for Win 7 and 8 only. The update will become available later this month.
Win XP will not qualify for the free update.

Hi,
Windows 10 will be released July 29. 2015. It will be free only for those who have Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
If you have XP, your system may not have the requirements for Win 10
