Can't select = with out using touch screen key pad?

Hello,

I Can't select = with out using touch screen key pad? its on the same key as - and _ but I can't seem to access the =. This laptop was bought in Japan and so has Japanese characters on the keys as well. I have changed the language of the laptop to English but still have this issue. Please help.
