Hello,
after reading the posts on 4 gig's 32 bit systems, I realize that I have unused ram in my machine. I have a 1 Gb GPU installed and 4 1 GB ddr2. this is on a asus board p5n (don't remember exactly which one, as I have a few p5n's) with a e6300, XP pro. It seems if I am understanding correctly that I have 1 stick more than will be utilised. could I simply remove this 1 stick with out causing any bottlenecks or would I do better to remove 2 sticks and install 2 x 512

hi,
there is no unused RAM in a computer.
the greater the RAM memory, the faster your computer will be.
but you should check if so much number of RAM is supported by your processor and motherboard.

32bit OS will not see past the 3gig range due to way 32bit operates, only a 64bit OS will see the ram beyond, regardless of what the bios/post screen detects it will not be used. In addition more ram DOES NOT always make a PC faster....its down to speed of ram in combination with a good Mobo and Fast CPU without bottlenecks.
