Windows 10 Burnt Screen on Start Up

Hi, I've recently updated to windows 10..... but every time i try to start my laptop up it goes to either a black screen OR it looks like the screen has either the log in where i put my password in or my actual desktop but the picture is really really dark- like its been burnt there.
Ive tried CTRL, ALT DELETE- Nothing
Rebooting- nothing other then just a black screen. or either of the burnt screens.
I get the HP start up in the beginning, and on occasion when the screen is just black i see the cursor.

I do eventually get the laptop to start, after numerous re-boots.

please please please help.....
