Phone is protected with the password

Recently i bought an I phone through my friend , come to notice that phone is protected with the password we have been trying to connect with the original user of the phone for the password were us we are unable to do.. then we tried out to reinstall the software were we found at the final stage it again asking for the password..

Some one can suggest what i can do
