Can't open powerpoint files. pptx

I've got a user on a Windows 8 laptop with Microsoft Office 2013 installed. Whenever he tries opening PPTX files, no actual content is displayed but instead, only what appears to be an icon representing a picture file right in the center of the screen.

The file path for the picture was not copied with the file, so there is no picture to display. YOu must save the whole folder structure with the powerpoint.
