Gateway Netbook can't fix it to do anything onlineClosed

Hello, 
I have a gateway netbook that a friend didn't want anymore but I can't fix it to do anything online there are all kinds of programs but it is suppose to be windows xp how do I do more than just play games?? Please help.

OK, well is it SP2 or SP3?  If it is SP2, trash it!  There are NO UPDATES or SUPPORT for XP, and if you have SP2, there isn't a web server on the planet that will allow your client to connect to it.

SP2 has serious flaws, which is why they released SP3 (over 4 years ago probably).
