Lg monitor stopped working with mac book pro

Hi
I've got a LG montior hooked up to a Mac Book pro, its been working fine until recently. I'm getting this message from the monitor but can't work out how to resolve.....'D-sub no signal' I've tried a different HDMI cable. Any help appreciated.

This message indicates that the monitor is currently set to receive a signal using the VGA input port not the HDMI port. I suggest you use the monitor controls to set it to use the HDMI input.
