Hello,
I am an absolute novice. I have an Acer Aspire One. I left it plugged in to top up charge. When I wanted to use it I pressed the button to turn it on and nothing at all is happening. No lights are showing. It was working perfectly normally. Any suggestions as to what I can try to get it started up please.

I have taken out the battery and put it in again. I have tried starting it plugged into the mains and also just on the battery alone which I believe is fully charged.

Try this

1. Remove the battery and cable.

2. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds.

3. Replug and start.

Good luck

Hi Jude,

Is the machine completely dead at start or can you hear the fan run?

I notice that when I try to turn on there is a small red light (one of three) on the front which flashes 5 times and I am aware of movement within the machine then it goes dead again. The screen remains black at all times.

Looks like a motherboard power supply issue, I suggest you consult a technician.

Thanks so much for your advice. I took it to our local technician...I am English but live in France. They repeated exactly what you told me to do and I had tried twice and this time it worked perfectly. They said that they can be " capricious" and they are not wrong...these little tykes KNOW when they are the doctors !! I have made a note of the remedy you gave me and for anybody else with the same problem it does work but not always first time it seems. Big Thanks again Ambucias..you know your stuff :)
