Goto the manufacturers website for your MP3 player and see if it's compatible with Chromebook OS. If not, then that may be the problem.
If compatible with your Chromebook OS, try downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturers website.
You can also try plugging the cord into another USB port to see if that's the issue.
Lastly try connecting your MP3 player into another computer and see if it works. If it does, then you know that its a compatibility problem with Chromebook.
